Severe Brain Damage - How Did This Happen?

Well Rain started the Summer School program which lasts for 6 weeks.  He was so excited because he gets to ride the bus to and from the school.  This in turn is really nice for me because I don't have to really go anywhere.  He will start Kindergarten in the fall and I am looking forward to some peace and quiet in the house during the day.

Trystyn will be getting fitted for a seat called a "Sitting Shell".  O&P Labs, actually forms like a back brace to Trystyn and then it sits on an A frame.  This will allow her to sit at a 90 degree angle right on the floor.  I think this will help her tremendously to get the idea of sitting up and it will allow us to play with her on the floor.  Plus, it will help in her therapies.  Soon she will also be getting her new AFO's (Ankle Foot Orthodics).  I can't wait, she outgrew her old ones and the new ones will actually totally wrap around her feet and hopefully prevent her from kicking out of them like she did her old ones.  Hopefully we will get these next week as it has been three weeks since she has been in her stander.  The other new news is that I have finally talked to our service coordinator about getting Trystyn a person that specifically works on feeding.  She eats hardly any baby food and her main source of food is the Pediasure.  So hopefully we will be able to get somebody that comes and only works on feeding and we can finally get her eating regular food.  This would help me tremendously as the cost of Pediasure is really high especially when that is the only thing that she eats.

As for me, I am slowly going out of my mind.  Rain is getting more and more obstinate and is having issues with listening.  The other day all I wanted to do was cry, because I had literally spent most of my day yelling at Rain to stop doing this or that.  I know that you are supposed to pick your battles with your kids, but he flat out does not listen.  I have tried everything to correct this behavior, but nothing seems to work.  Some days are definitely better then others, but it is always a guessing game how each day will be. 

I am in the process of getting my basement cleaned out which is a god awful mess.  Because our basement isn't finished we literally just store stuff down there.  There are boxes down there that we had moved here from Florida 8 years ago and never even opened.  I am going through all of that stuff and have amassed quite a big "sell" pile.  My friend Vikki and I are going to have some garage sales.  So I hope to get rid of all of that stuff.

Anyway, I gotta go because it's Rain's turn to play his games.

Quiet

It is so quiet here because Rain our son is having a sleep over at my sister's house with my nephew and Trystyn is sound asleep, well for now anyway.  I am making coffee and trying to update my site some.  You know work on the pages that I added and haven't found the time to actually put stuff on them.  Let me tell you whoever thinks being a stay at home mom is a walk in the park has got it all wrong.  Before I quit my job and new that I was quitting I had all these ideas of all the stuff that I was going to be able to accomplish that I could never get done because I worked full time.  Well, let's just say that when you have two kids at home full time you are really not accomplishing much.  Now I am just waiting for Kindergarten to start, then maybe I will accomplish some of the lofty tasks that I have in my mind to do.

I visited my old job today and was blasted about not posting so much.  She was teasing me about it, and I love her to death, but she is absolutely right.  Really though it's difficult to do anything with an almost 5 year old at home all the time because every time I sit down to do something on the computer he magically appears and wants to play his games.  So in reality I get the time to check my email and respond and that is about it. Unless they are sleeping and I am actually not too tired to do something.

Right now I am actually multi-tasking, something I haven't done for a while.  I am importing all of our CD collection into Itunes and working on the site.  Whoo Hoo, I know you can't stop clapping because of all that I am accomplishing.  Really though importing all of our music is one of those things that I have been wanting to do.  I just really didn't realize how much music we actually have, 270 Cd's.  Seriously, though we haven't bought a new CD in like 6 years, so that just shows you how old our music is and how old we are.  I was way more interested in buying CD's when I was younger.  Now it's all about kid stuff.

My husband lost our one and only key to our minivan.  We have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan and the key has the unlock buttons right on it.  So for the low, low price of $282.00 we were able to get a new one.  Who knew that such a key would cost so much money.  What happened to the times were you could go to Wal-Mart and buy one for $2.00.  So the moral of this story is, if you have only one key to your vehicle and your key is like mine, guard it with your life, or you too will be paying way to much money so that you can drive your car.

Things are going good with the kids.  I really really can't wait for Rain to be in full time Kindergarten though.  I love my kids, don't get me wrong, but jeepers he is the most stubborn and determined child on the planet.  He is also one of those kids that really doesn't care about punishment.  He has also acquired the fine art of selective hearing.  Apparently, men get this ability very early on in life.  But, then he also has his moments when he says the cutest things.  Like just the other day he was outside riding his bike and I went out to check on him and I said "Rain where are you?" and he said "Right here riding my bike, and mommy I'm just trying to get some peace and quiet."  I mean really this coming from the loudest child on the planet, the one that I am forever saying stuff like I am sitting right here you don't need to yell at me.  I just started laughing and went back inside the house.  As for me, I am just trying to keep my sanity and still I am forever afraid I may be loosing that battle as well.
